Our mission is to provide an opportunity for artists and professionals to share their skills and talents with the residents of Park County and the neighboring counties. We provide a location for classes, a meeting and gathering venue for educational interchange, as well as an exhibition gallery for artists' and students' work.

  WINTER CLASSES FOR KIDS

Preschool Series: Dive under the sea for some creative art projects. - Sculpt ceramic sea creatures, create ocean collages, design your own seascape with chalk pastels, and explore the murky depths with printmaking.

Comic Book Art with Ted Rechlin: - Enter the world of comic book art with instruction on the specific techniques that relate to this popular art form. Students will learn to improve their drawing skills, learn comic book page layout and design, drawing the face and figure, penciling, inking, coloring and more. Digital Photography for Watercolors - Learn how to get the most out of your point and shoot cameras. We'll cover the basics (light, lens, sensor, shutter, aperture, and flash). Then we'll get creative with landscapes, family portraits, macro images, and computer transfer. Wild and wacky will not be discouraged. John Zumpano (JZphotoArt.com) is a freelance photographer with 30 years in the motion picture business.

Intermediate DSLR Creative Photography Workshop - This workshop, designed for students who have completed Robert Osborn's introductory class, will cover creativity, perception, and design. On Saturday, the class will take photos at a local junkyard; and on Sunday students will conduct an indoor photo-shoot of a model. Participants will identify a best image from each project and the instructor will produce a high-quality print using his instructor's iMac and printer.

Encaustics 101- Paint with beeswax! - This class will cover technical information, supplier and materials lists, and safety precautions. Instructor Stacey Herries (staceyherries.com) will demonstrate techniques and provide plenty of studio time for practice. This process is versatile and creates highly original works of art. Participants should bring a lunch and wooden art boards (12 x 12 in. or smaller, sold at MSU Bookstore).

Spring Watercolor Clinic - Local artist, David Swanson, will cover techniques of paint application, color mixing, and composition in this week-end workshop. Friday evening will include an introductory talk and demonstration as well as an orientation about materials. Saturday will provide morning and afternoon work sessions, outdoors or from a still-life, depending on the weather, with a brown-bag lunch break. Sunday will allow for a morning painting session followed by a critique and discussion over a light lunch.
